Cate Blanchett is set to return to the London stage to star in a production of All About Eve, where she will take on the role of Margo Channing—a character once portrayed onscreen by the iconic Bette Davis. The new (and first) theatrical adaptation of Joseph L. Mankiewicz's 1950 film—which won the Academy Award for Best Picture—will makes its premiere in the West End in the spring of 2018. Director Ivo van Hove will stage the production, which will be brought to life by Sonia Friedman Productions and Fox Stage Productions.
All About Eve tells the dramatic backstage story of a celebrated Broadway star (Channing) who befriends a
forlorn aspiring actress named Eve Harrington. After Margo falls for
Eve's depressing life story, she takes her under her wing only to
realize later that she is a conniving opportunist. Casting for the role
of Harrington has yet to be announced.
