Forgery: Police paradefake WAEC syndicate

Police in Akwa Ibom have arrresed two suspects who

specialised in forging West African Examination

Certificate .

Parading Victor Joe, 30 years and Nsikak Atte, 27

years from Urue Offong\Uruko and Okobo council

areas respectively, the state police public relations

officer, Cornelia Nwawe, said they were rounded up,

following intelligent reports.

Displaying the May/June and December/November

2015 African West Examination Council fake certificate,

printed by the suspect Victor, the PPRO explained that,

the victim was caught while presenting the certificate

for employment.

It would be recalled that, in Akwa Ibom State, the

government had to place embargo on employment

exercise conducted by the immediate past government

of Godswill Akpabio because it was found out that

most of the employment letters given out were forged

and are fake.

Confirming his involvement in the issuing the fake

appointment letter, Nsikak Atte said, he ventured into

such mess because of the hard times.

“I am here because of forgery, the economic

circumstances in the country drive me into this mess,

the hardship in the country, how to meet your daily

needs; like taking care of your siblings paying of

school fees for them and so on,” he said..

Nsikak, who alleged he gave the said fake

appointment letters to only two persons which

attracted N130,000 and N90,000 respectively, added

that, the money helped him to take care of his mother

sickness and his uncle burial.

“I did it to get fund for the burial of my uncle and to

pay for my siblings school fees, I lead that justice be

tampered with mercy; I am a graduate of Business

Administration. I am pleading for restitution because

the police have investigated and saw that I used this

money for the purpose I have mentioned,” he added..

For his part, Victor Joe who alleged that he collected

only N3,000 for the deal, said he was approached by

his friend to assist him half the May/June certificate.

“I am a computer operator at Vico Computers, 110

Oron road, in Oron LGA, I was in my place of work this

man came to ask me to assist him, this is the first

time and the only person I have oriented certificate

for”.

He pleaded for leniency as he cannot explain what led

him into doing such crime. Advising residents of the

state, the PPRO called on job seekers and students to

always avoid short cuts in getting what they want.

She admonished those looking for job to use the

correct channel of doing so as the command would

not relent in arresting those found patronizing

fraudsters in order to get things done through the

wrong channels.

The PPRO called on the people of the state to

continue in the way and manner they are cooperating

with the command in volunteering information, as is

only through such ways that the force would succeed

ridding the state of criminals and fraudsters.
